Loop Alert Support

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I set an alert?
Choose your bus route or train line, select your stop, then tap the "Alert" button next to any arrival. Set how many minutes in advance you want to be notified, and tap "Start Alert."
Why isn't my alert firing?
Make sure notifications are enabled for Loop Alert in your iPhone Settings → Notifications. Also ensure the app is open or running in the background.
The arrivals show "No predictions"
This usually means CTA isn't reporting any active vehicles on that route/stop right now. This commonly happens late at night or during service disruptions. Try again during normal service hours.
Can I track multiple buses at once?
Yes! You can set alerts on multiple arrivals. Each alert tracks its specific vehicle independently.
How accurate are the arrival times?
Arrival predictions come directly from the official CTA Bus Tracker and Train Tracker APIs. They use real-time GPS data from vehicles and are generally accurate within 1-2 minutes. They are estimates, not a guarantee — see the next question.
Why did the countdown jump from 8 minutes to 3?
The CTA refreshes each vehicle's prediction about every 30 seconds, and Loop Alert re-checks on the same cadence whether the app is open or closed. Between two updates a bus or train can cover a lot of ground, so the countdown can drop several minutes at once. That also means an alert set for "5 minutes away" can fire with less warning than 5 minutes, or occasionally after the vehicle has passed. Give yourself a buffer: pick a threshold a couple of minutes earlier than you think you need.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to iPhone Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Loop Alert → Cancel Subscription.
